Red Wing

About Red Wing

In the first years of the 20th century, and ambitious cobbler and merchant native to Red Wing, MN saw a need for shoes that could keep up with the demanding work of the emerging industries of the industrial revolution. These new jobs, such as mining, logging, rigging, brought with them many new opportunities, but also many new challenges and dangers. Charles Beckman, a cobbler, was tired of seeing his friends in Red Wing get injured on the job. He knew it was about time to build a better workboot – a modern workboot. But protection wasn’t enough – these jobs worked long hours, and he needed a boot that could keep the wearer comfortable during those long shifts. Where there’s a need, and an idea, comes innovation! Humble beginning for Red Wing Shoes, indeed!

From Humble Beginnings to Worldwide Prominence

In 1905, Beckman and fourteen investors started the company that would forever change the work boot market. Beckman, who loved his hometown, named this company Red Wing Shoes.

It’s been over a hundred years since Red Wing Shoes was founded. However, our commitment to producing the best work boots in the world hasn’t aged one bit! Red Wing’s footwear continues to be built to consistently perform in environments spanning across the globe. Our boots are worn by hard workers in more than one hundred countries, which we believe is a testament to over a century of hard work and commitment to excellence – a commitment to never compromise on the quality of our product.

Never Compromise

A testament to our commitment is be found in our Heritage collection. This collection consists of footwear that embodies the American ideals of hard work, prosperity, and overall excellence.

The boots of our Heritage collection are all designed and constructed the same way they were 80 years – with handcrafted care, from the best materials. Our leather is sourced from our very own S.B. Foot Tannery, a company that shares our commitment to excellence so closely that we invited them to be a part of our family

Our products have proven themselves over the last 100 years. Th eyperform, outlast, and keep you comfortable while doing it. Every time I walk into the store I want to buy every pair of shoes/boots I see. But I love the extra care of the after-sale work. I can go back in now and then and get the boots some protective touch-up and looking new again. (Well...almost new.) Very cool shop.read more

Great store with excellent customer service. Josh was fantastic, handling the Saturday morning high customer volume including our inquisitive toddler like a champ. My husband walked out of the store wearing a high quality Red Wing work boot that was properly fitted and at a reasonable price. Invest in your feet!read more

The sales person (Brandon) I dealt with was probably the best I have ever dealt with. After he finished up with another customer he gave a quick rundown of which boots were where. Brandon gave me just enough time to think of what I might want and started going into specifics about the materials in the boot. Not once did he try to upsell me (which I hate). Ex: He recommended the inserts to buy, but did not push the item. Overall I would go back to the store in a heartbeat. That was probably the least painful experience I’ve ever had buying boots, and I’ll be sure to stop back.read more
